Sadie – Courtney Summers
This story follows our protagonist, Sadie. She has grown up alone in a small town, and she is the sole guardian of her younger sister. Her life is full of hardships, but things come crashing down when her sister is murdered and the police investigation fails to catch the culprit.
This leads to Sadie taking matters into her own hands and starting the journey of finding the murderer and taking revenge. All she has are some meager clues.
A radio personality, when researching forgotten towns, comes across Sadie’s story and becomes obsessed with it. He starts a podcast show and tries to find this missing girl.
This story talks about abuse and gives insight into people and how they often cannot guess who the abuser is because the abusers have such perfect facades that no one suspects them. This story’s subject matter is dark and heavy. But it is an incredibly important book, especially for teenagers.
