This story takes place in a small town and deals with the themes of rape culture and the everyday sexism high school students face.
This story is told from three perspectives. The protagonist, Alex, is a detached person who is still dealing with shock after her sister’s murder and rape.
When the murderer of her sister walks free, she takes matters into her own hands and sees that justice is served. She is a morally gray character and someone who has to take actions, even if those actions are violent ones. She cannot stay quiet and do nothing when the girls around her are in danger.

Then there is the character Peekay, who befriends Alex while working at an animal shelter. Her character shows how women too enable the same sexism they themselves suffer from. Another character, Jack, who feels guilty about his actions during the night Alex’s sister’s body was discovered  portrays the male gaze of society. The characters are intriguing, and they have depth.
This story discusses the consequences that occur when people decide to stay quiet in the face of injustice.
While these characters’ high school senior year unfolds, Alex’s violent nature once again comes to the surface, and the three characters lives change abruptly.
This is a difficult story about sexual assault and violence, and at the same time, it is an incredibly important story for everyone.
