This poignant and beautiful tale is told from a cat’s perspective, called Nana. This story starts off slow and simple. It’s about the cat Nana and his beloved owner Satoru and their friendship. Nana is a street cat whom Satoru befriends at first. After an accident in which Nana is injured, Satoru helps the cat, and thus begins the beautiful journey of a cat and his human. But only after five years, when Satoru packs up his life and hops in his van with Nana and sets off on a road trip cruising around Japan through the changing seasons. Together they visit Satoru’s old friends, reminiscing about the old days and trying to find Nana a new home. Nana is puzzled why Satoru suddenly wants to give him away. But he is determined to stay by Satoru’s side. While visiting Satoru’s friends, Nana meets different people whose lives and histories are tied to Satoru in heartwarming ways. Nana meets other cats and a canine too, and even forms a delicate friendship. The way the author told the story through the cat’s perspective made the story more beautiful, fun, and at the same time more heartbreaking. It’s a story about family, friendship, grief, loss, and heartbreak. When Nana finds out Satoru’s reason for wanting to give him away, it will throw you into an emotional whirlwind. This story depicts the friendship between humans and their pets in the most loving and tender way imaginable.
